Review: Everything We Keep by Kerry Lonsdale

Sous chef Aimee Tierney has the perfect recipe for the perfect life: marry her childhood sweetheart, raise a family, and buy out her parents’ restaurant. But when her fiancĂ©, James Donato, vanishes in a boating accident, her well-baked future is swept out to sea. Instead of walking down the aisle on their wedding day, Aimee is at James’s funeral—a funeral that leaves her more unsettled than at peace.
As Aimee struggles to reconstruct her life, she delves deeper into James’s disappearance. What she uncovers is an ocean of secrets that make her question everything about the life they built together. And just below the surface is a truth that may set Aimee free…or shatter her forever.
A luminous debut with unexpected twists, Everything We Keep explores the devastation of loss, the euphoria of finding love again, and the pulse-racing repercussions of discovering the truth about the ones we hold dear and the lengths they will go to protect us.

MY THOUGHTS
I am going to say this over and over again - THANK YOU Kerry - I am speechless!  The images that you created through your writing, in my mind, were breathtaking.  This IS my favorite book of 2016 to date! Everyone must pre-order this book, you will not be disappointed!
Aimee seems to have the perfect life from the outside looking in - she has a career that she loves, she is engaged to marry her high school sweetheart (James Donato) that she has been head over heels for most of her entire life and everyone adores them.
Then one day James leaves to go on a business trip to Mexico and he never returns.  The details of his disappearance are sketchy, no one knows what really happened that fateful boating trip that supposedly took his life.  Did he really die?  Was he kidnapped?  Aimee has no idea and it has made this whole situation that much harder.
To make matters more difficult and down right mysterious - Aimee is approached by a medium who tells her that James is not dead, he's alive and the danger has passed.  What in the world?  Aimee just sat through a funeral for the man she loved and watched him (his casket) being laid to rest AND OUT OF NOWHERE this women tells her - your fiance is still alive.
What is she supposed to think?  Feel?
A short time later, Jame's brother Thomas comes to her and hands over a rather large check and tells her to cash it immediately and move on her life.  She doesn't know what to do now, she feels lost.  After a little time, she decides maybe Thomas is right and she considers opening her own cafe with specialty coffees and pastries.
And then...another visit from the medium...telling Aimee to take a trip to another country to find out the truth...should she go?  Should she just move on?
This story will have you engaged from beginning to end and trying to solve the mystery right along with Aimee and her friends.
Sit back, grab a glass of wine or 3 and enjoy the ride!

WINE SELECTION
I am going to go with a nice Mexican wine - Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot - DELISH!

RATING
There is no doubt in my mind what to rate this amazing tale, hands down it's five wine glasses all the way.  It will be very hard to top!
